The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was created by Resolution 9-71, which became law on March 22, 1971, as a dependent special district of the City of Delray Beach. It is responsible for the economic development and improvement of the downtown area of Delray Beach.
The Authority’s primary source of revenue is derived from real property taxes collected from the property owners in the central business district of the City of Delray Beach. The Authority is authorized to levy in each fiscal year an advalorem property tax not exceeding one mill to finance its operations.
The Authority’s main areas of involvement in the downtown development include: Marketing and Promotion of the Downtown district (and its neighborhoods – The Ave [Atlantic Avenue], SOFA [South of Atlantic], The Set [West Atlantic], Pineapple Grove, US1 and Beachside) as seen through the DowntownDelrayBeach.com site, Social Media, print, television, digital media, and public relations, as well as Merchant Programs of the Night and Day Downtown Delray campaign and programs such as Savor the Avenue, Delray Beach Fashion Week, Dine Out Downtown Delray Restaurant Week, the Mother’s Day Orchid Giveaway, Shop Small Saturday and more.
